Bike insurance specialist, Bennetts, has launched ‘Bike Social’, a dedicated social network for the UK motorcycling community.

The network hopes to bring together the biking community by encouraging motorcyclists to produce their own rider-specific social networking profiles. The site will allow for riders to upload and share their favourite routes and photos, view the latest biking news and create their own events, ride-outs and meets.

Bike Social will also host bespoke blogs and forums enabling enthusiasts to share their opinions with other bikers. In addition to the social networking side the site will also allow for motorcycling clubs and groups in the UK to establish a web presence of their own at no extra cost.

Spearheading the initiative is long-standing MCN editor, Marc Potter. On joining Bennetts, he commented: “This is a great opportunity and one I can’t wait to embrace. I’ve been riding since I was able to get on two wheels, and can’t wait for all motorcyclists to get involved. It’s all about riding in the real world rather than just focusing on the dream bikes we see and fantasise about in magazines and websites.”

Marketing and e-commerce director for Bennetts, Hannah Squirell, added: “The focus of our social network is an all-encompassing online community for UK motorcyclists – providing strength in numbers through one biking community.

“After two years in development this initiative will further establish Bennetts’ position at the heart of the biking community and Marc’s desire for a new challenge made him our No. 1 choice to join the team.”
