Following a competitive tender process the Battle of Bannockburn centre has selected Storm ID to develop the full digital programme to support its re-launch.

Set to open in time for the 700th Anniversary of the battle in 2013 the new visitor centre hopes to change the way visitors experience Bannockburn, by making it a world-class experience for this defining moment in Scottish history.

The digital activity to be undertaken by Storm ID includes the official website, online ticketing system and e-learning resource. The interactive website will showcase the new Bannockburn experience and will include an immersive 3D experience. The online ticketing system is to be integrated with the site, serving the public, travel trade and educational groups.

The project, which is a joint venture between the National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland, on behalf of the Scottish Government and funded by support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, aims to set new standards for Scotland’s tourism industry.

Colan Mehaffey, digital media manager at the National Trust for Scotland, commented: “We are delighted to have Storm ID on board to develop the new digital programme for the battle of Bannockburn project.

“[The] new visitor experience uses state-of-the art technology to bring the battle to life for 21st century audiences in a way which has never been done before. It is important that the digital element of the project reflects this through an innovative and interactive strategy that both educates and entertains audiences, and we feel that Storm ID are the ideal agency to be tasked with this challenge.”

Head of client services at Storm ID, Stuart Cruickshank, added: “Storm ID is honoured to be able to work on such a prestigious project. The next few years are going to be some of the most exciting in Scottish history so it’s fantastic that Storm ID can be involved in a project which promotes learning and discussion around an equally important part of Scotland’s heritage.”
