According to internet analytics company ComScore, Instagram has beat Twitter in its number of mobile visitors across the US during August 2012.

Twitter has over six times the number of users than Instagram, with 500 million worldwide compared to just 80 million.

However, last month Instagram attracted an average of 7.3 million daily visitors via its mobile app, while Twitter saw only 6.9 million. Users were also found to spend more time on the photo-sharing site (257 minutes) compared to those who visited Twitter (170 minutes).

Whilst this is impressive for Instagram, which was only launched two years ago and recently bought by Facebook for $715 million, the number of unique visitors to its site was substantially less than Twitter’s unique visitors which clocked in at around 29 million.
