Virgin Media has joined with PeerIndex to offer social media influencers in film and cinema free tickets to PictureHouse cinemas, where they will see one of the Virgin Media Shorts competition films as a trailer to the movie.

The film goers will then be encouraged to write reviews of the movie with the best, as judged by a professional film critic, being given VIP tickets to the Virgin Media Shorts awards ceremony in November.

Azeem Azhar, CEO of PeerIndex, said: “Movies are a massively social topic so are an ideal area for social influence marketing. People will often ask their friends – in real life or on the social web – about what movies they should see and this campaign taps into that behaviour.

“Using the PeerPerks service Virgin Media can ensure that their giveaways are being targeted at people with real influence on relevant topics. By bringing movie influencers on board to the VMShort programme they’ll be able to drive real, influential and meaningful conversation at scale on the social web.”

The entries for the competition have been shortlisted to 13, with the grand prize winner to receive £30,000 funding to make their next film and mentoring from the British Film Institute.
