Men’s Health have appointed consumer sports PR and social media agency Smoking Gun to raise awareness of Manchester’s inaugural ‘Survival of the Fittest’ event on 3 November.

Up to 4,500 urban runners will take on a 10km course which uses the city’s urban landscape in a series of challenges and obstacles, with entrants running solo or in teams of ten. The race is open to anyone aged 16 and over.

Alongside organising a taster demo event, Smoking Gun has drafted in Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas to act as an ambassador. The agency is also advising on media relations, media partnerships and social media content creation and influencer outreach.

Rick Guttridge, managing director at Smoking Gun PR, said: “Men’s Health is a major brand name which any business would be happy to work alongside. We’re well versed in sports and event based campaigns and can’t wait to see this sports mad city take up this new challenge. Securing Ryan, who is fitness mad, to be part of the campaign is a coup and we’ll really see if the Olympics has inspired Mancunians to try a new sport.”

The announcement is the latest in a series of account wins and award commendations for the Spinningfields based team.
