Claiming what will be a first for a UK publication, Marie Claire has announced that it has featured a display advert with video content in its latest issue.

Appearing in pages 34 and 35 of the magazine, only a few thousand copies of the October issue will have the ad, which is for Dolce & Gabbana’s most recent fragrance, and most of these will go to subscribers. Average monthly circulation for the IPC Media magazine usually hits around 255,000.

When the page is opened the embedded advert’s music will begin to play, showing models posing beside a coastal scene with the perfume.

The 45-second video has used technology developed by Americhip and was paid for by Procter & Gamble.
