England Women’s Cricket Team has launched a campaign with the aim of inspiring more people to watch women’s cricket as part of a drive to boost awareness of the international women’s game in England.

Deep Red Creative, specialists in creative sports marketing, were commissioned with a brief of boosting sales of tickets for the Test series against India and the T20 series against the West Indies, as well as creating a campaign which would raise the profile of the international women’s game as a whole.

In response, Deep Red developed a series of web banners, email and social media graphics, posters and leaflets which were used by the host venues Durham, Manchester’s Old Trafford, Wantage Road in Northampton, and Sussex’s Hove and Arundel, ahead of the team leaving for the Women’s T20 World Cup taking place in Sri Lanka.

Commenting on the campaign Don Mammatt, creative director at Deep Red, said: “Our target market for this campaign was schools, clubs and families and in terms of attracting the attention of younger girls, we felt this was an ideal opportunity to create visuals that would depict the England Women players as role models.

“We used collector card images of the England squad, tag names and inspirational quotes to give personality to the players and introduce them by way of the campaign heading ‘This Is England’.

“By making the players more accessible in this visual way, we hope more young girls will be attracted to the game as both as spectators and players.”
