Technology specialist C-Instore, a division of The Cardinal Group, has developed The Virtual Fashion Mirror using augmented reality, mobile and network technologies.

To create The Virtual Fashion Mirror, which debuts at Vodafone Fahion Weekend, C-Instore put cameras inside a mirror unit. These cameras then capture the body dimensions and posture of the users before superimposing the chosen clothing items onto the image displayed. They can then share the looks on social networking sites.

Shoppers can also build outfits as the mirror gives suggestions for complimentary garments as well as outfit ideas from the designers themselves.

C-Instore also believes the technology will provide designers with valuable information on consumer preferences and purchasing habits.

Jason Trigg, CEO of The Cardinal Group commented: “It is a great opportunity for designers to raise the profile of their collections, and for visitors to easily build outfits from items just seen on the catwalk. We look forward to seeing the response from both the designers and consumers attending the 4-day event.”

The technology is operated via the C-Instore Immersive Experience Platform, which enables touchless interactions and augmented reality in the retail and entertainment sectors and OOH advertising.
