The NAC Group has launched a new app to educate users on green issues as part of the growing success of three North East Smart Clubs.

Designed and developed by Shout Digital, the GreenHound app features six greyhounds powered by the player “scooping poop.” Once the race is run, a series of questions educate the player on green issues, particularly renewable energy. All proceeds from the £1.49 app will go towards securing jobs for people in the North East.

The Smart Clubs are interactive learning centres specialise in pre-employment training and job placement. Sales of the app will not only support the training but also help fund the project which on average puts 100 people a month into work.

Angeline Brown of NAC commented: “Part of the training delivered in our Smart Clubs focuses on sustainability, particularly renewables. We also like to make our learning enjoyable so use Apple products to make the training more interactive.”

Each of the six greyhounds who feature in the game have their own personalities, inspired by NAC’s managing director, Paul Robson’s greyhound, Gordon. Learning points gathered throughout the game with new targets set for learning making it suitable for every age group.

Creative director from Shout Digital, Ian Mullen, added: “It was a lot of fun putting this app together and we are delighted that our technology and creative design reflects NAC’s goals. Hopefully this is the first of many products we will be working on together.”
