Online photo processor PhotoBox Europe is to run its first television campaign this weekend to promote its photo prints and gifts offering.

The TV advertising campaign, created by Newhaven and media planned MNC, will focus on the ease of use of its photo album creation service, Photobooks, featuring a border collie called Jess creating her own.

“The idea of a dog creating a photo album for her family was irresistible,” explained Lawrence Merrit, UK MD of PhotoBox. “Border collies are pretty smart animals, and it’s not that much of a stretch to imagine Jess sitting down and sorting through his favourite family photos to create a PhotoBook.”

Merritt added: “While many may like to think that television is a medium of the past, it is still an immensely popular medium but is consumed in many more ways than through the traditional television set. Television expands our exposure beyond the digerati to the true mass market of people capturing and preserving their worlds through digital photography. It’s an exciting move for us that we expect to have a significant impact on our business.”

The campaign will run for a month across digital channels such as Comedy Central, ITV2 and More4 from Sunday 19 August.

Social media agency The Rabbit Agency has been promoting the previews of the advert over the last week.
