The Olympic Closing Ceremony appears to have drawn a mixed reaction across the social media.

On Twitter viewers took to the site to express their disappointment at the show which featured Jessie J, The Who, Take That and a reunion from the Spice Girls.

annkpowers (@annkpowers) tweeted: "Glad I opted for time with friends instead of the closing ceremony. Did see the Brasil segment -- excited for their carnaval swag #olympics"

Jason Schreier ‏(‪@jasonschreier‬) added: "If aliens came to Earth and the first thing they saw was the Olympics closing ceremony, they'd just quietly leave and never come back."

Similar sentiments were echoed by, Louie Lobo (@LouieLobo) and Kelly Barrett (@KellyAlysia) who commented, respectively: "WTF is going on?!" -Says everyone who is watching the closing ceremony for #Olympics2012" and "It's like a group of high people sat down in a room and came up with ideas for this closing ceremony and NO IDEA WAS TURNED DOWN."

The "Best of British" performers at the Ceremony were also questioned by Tweeters with Austin Carr (Austin Carr) questioning: "Why is the Olympic closing ceremony only featuring music from Now! That's What I Call Music volume 3?"

Rob Turner (@ApexPastorBoy) also queried the lack of appearance by British singing sensation Adele, Tweeting: "Dear London Closing Ceremony, I heard there's a British lady by the name of Adele who's good at carrying a tune. Next time..please book her"
