Visa, Virgin Media, Jamaica Tourist Board, ESPN, Puma: Advertising campaigns featuring Olympic legend Usain Bolt
Since Beijing 2008, Usain Bolt has been a popular choice for ad campaigns and after his London 2012 performance, successfully defending his double Gold last night, the offers are likely to keep pouring in. Here The Drum takes a look at some of Bolt's starring roles so far....
ESPN Sports Centre - 787,906 YouTube Views
In 2009, Bolt filmed a commercial for ESPN depicting a 'slow day' at work. The ad shows his 'clocking in' and 'clocking out' before ESPN Sports Centre staff could finish their conversation.
Bolt's Visa commerical shows him racing around London to get to the Games, using nothing but his trusty Visa card.
In his, somewhat controversial, Virgin Media Campaign Bolt pretends to be Richard Branson. From this string of commercials the ASA banned Virgin's "Bye Bye to Buffering" ad starring Bolt claiming it was misleading.
Fellow sportsmen, Fernando Alonso, Rickie Fowler, Yuvraj Singh, and Sergio Agüero join Bolt in this Puma ad, as Bolt cranks up the pace the others struggle to keep up despite being held on by bungee cords, at the end the ad shows Bolt - no cord - looking as if the run was but a walk in the park.
To promote his home country, Jamaica, this ad shows Bolt running through Jamaica to a speeded up version of Bob Marley's One Love.
