Betting firm Ladbrokes has confirmed that departure of its head of product, Richard Ames, who oversaw its trading and IT offer.

Following a story run by The Telegraph this morning that he was sacked by the company which is heading for the worst online results in almost ten years, Ladbrokes has released a short statement to the Alternative Investment Market, confirming its accuracy.

The piece said that the news comes ahead of the announcement of further delays to the bookmaker’s ‘beleaguered technology platform’.

The company chose to spend £50m in order to develop its own in-house digital technology, The Telegraph reports, which has ended up needing capital diverted from its advertising budget to complete.

Nick Rust is expected to take over leading Ladbrokes’ digital offer.
