Real and Smooth Limited replaces GMG Radio
Following the acquisition of the Real Radio network, Real Radio XS and Smooth Radio, the stations will now collectively be known as Real and Smooth Limited with immediate effect, replacing the GMG Radio name.
The group name will be used for the foreseeable future, following the acquisition of the stations by Global Radio Holdings last month for £50m.
It has been revealed that Real and Smooth Limited is in a ‘hold separate’ position while work by competition authorities takes place into the merger of the Real and Smooth stations with Global Radio.
This follows yesterday's news that the Real Radio football phone in was cancelled just before going on air, apparently as part of a strategy to axe evening sports show and replace them with music programming mixed with news, travel and weather.
