Sport Stars Media, the company which has the image rights to commercialise the image of Real Madrid manager José Mourinho, is to develop an interactive branded web platform utilising social gaming and mobile app development.

The site, Mourinho and the Special Ones, will aim to increase viewer, user and subscriber participation, the company has revealed, in order to provide new revenue streams such as sponsorship, merchandising and product placement.

No additional funding will be spend during the production process, SSM has said, as it aims to utilise emerging trends of media consumption with a focus on real and virtual world applications, with children accessing online content through mobile devices.

The platform will comprise of a tie-in TV series, a collectable card trading game and social media platform. The card trading game is expected to be run on cross-platform mobile devices, including Android and iOS, with augmented reality elements embedded on the card, teaching football skills that children will have seen in the series itself.

Tricks that have been learned can then be recorded and uploaded through mobile phones and place on the social media web platform.

Ruben Dias, CEO of Sports Stars Media, commented: "Since joining AIM earlier this year the focus has been on developing the MSO TV series. However, given the increasing interactive nature of digital media applications we have decided to incorporate the TV series into a wider offering so that we can take advantage of a range of new revenue generating opportunities. We are very excited by the huge potential afforded to us by combining social media, mobile and interactive augmented reality applications."
