Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and VisitScotland to host media centre during Olympic Games

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and VisitScotland will run a Destination Media Centre to handle the Olympic Football events taking place in the Glasgow.

The Destination Media Centre will be run to host accredited and non-accredited media reporting on the eight Olympic Football Matches that will be hosted at Hampden.

The free service will be located in The Lighthouse in Glasgow City Centre, open from 10.00am - 6.00pm on Tuesday 24 – Saturday 28 July and from Monday 30 July – Friday 3 August, offering desk space, wifi, wireless print and refreshments.

Scott Taylor, chief executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “The Olympic Games is the biggest sporting event on the planet and, as the host of eight Olympic football matches, Glasgow is set to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in front of a global audience.

"Located in the heart of the city, and a true champion of Glasgow style and design, The Lighthouse will provide the perfect venue for the Destination Media Centre (DMC).

“The DMC will be a vital tool for visiting national and international media and will provide a one-stop-shop for media keen to discover Glasgow’s world-class cultural portfolio, cutting-edge design and style credentials and position as a premier destination for hosting major international events.

“We are delighted to be working jointly with VisitScotland on the Destination Media Centre during the Olympic Football Tournament, which is sure to generate increased international awareness for the city of Glasgow and for Scotland as a whole," he concluded.
