Specsavers has announced the launch of a new app, allowing customers to use their smartphone to check their eyesight.

Customers undertake a series of tests using the Sight Check app, and if any problems are flagged, it instructs the customer to book an appointment at the nearest store.

The app also includes the Ask the Optician tool, allowing users to input a question, with the app then searching the database to come back with an answer in either text or video form.
