‘The Strength to Succeed’ a new book produced by Thompson Brand Partners has been launched to support Welcome to Yorkshire’s bid to host Le Grand Départ of the Tour de France.

The book shows the beautiful and varied landscape of Yorkshire and features Olympic track cyclist and World Champion Ben Swift and local cycling legend Brian Robinson, 81 – the first Briton to win a stage of the Tour de France in 1958.

Peter Dodd, Commercial Director of Welcome to Yorkshire says: “Winning ʻLe Bidʼ is going to be a real challenge but would be an amazing boost to the Yorkshire economy and profile.

“This wonderful book conveys perfectly the message that not only do we have the facilities, the infrastructure and the landscape to host Le Grand Départ, but that we have the cycling heritage, the passion for sport and the support of the local people to make it a very, very special event.”

The book was delivered to the Tour Organising Committee during a recent visit to view Welcome to Yorkshire’s plans for hosting the sporting event and take in some of the iconic locations that may feature along the way.

Thompson Managing Director, Nick Ramshaw added: “As a Yorkshire-based agency, whose people are passionate about the region, cycling and sport, we were all extremely proud to have contributed to ʻLe Bidʼ and to be involved with such an exciting project. Let’s hope it does the trick.”
