Rosie Arnold, D&AD president, has praised the Olympic opening ceremony, created by Academy Award winning film director and creative director of the London 2012 Olympic Games Danny Boyle, which is set to feature 70 sheep, two mosh pits and a cricket team.

The ceremony will also include giant representations of the flowers for the four UK countries - the rose for England, thistle for Scotland, flax for Northern Ireland and daffodil for Wales.

Arnold said: "As far as I'm concerned Danny Boyle is a genius and a creative visionary. Often the ideas that everyone thinks are mad end up being the ones that resonate.

"Danny's vision for a 'green and pleasant land' captures a kind of rural Britishness in an honest, smart way. I love the rain cloud. Lets face it, we'll be incredibly lucky if we manage to escape real tempests during the games."
