Former News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court today accused of three charges of conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

Her husband, Charlie Brooks, and four former colleagues face one charge each of the offence and will also appear at the court.

Brooks, 44, was charged last month by detectives from Operation Weeting, Scotland Yard's phone-hacking inquiry. She is accused of conspiring to conceal documents, computers and electronic equipment from police and conspiring to remove seven boxes of material from the archive of News International in July last year.

That month, David Cameron ordered an inquiry into press standards; the News of the World was closed down; and Brooks resigned from News International.

Charlie Brooks - a 49-year-old writer and racehorse trainer - is also due in court, along with Brooks' former personal assistant, Cheryl Carter; her ex-chauffeur and two security officials who were employed by News International.
