Empire magazine has today announced the launch of a US iPad edition as it enters its sixth global market.

Launching today in the Apple Newsstand with Empire’s July 2012 issue, the iPad edition features covers for The Dark Knight Rises.

Christopher Nolan, director of The Dark Knight Rises, said: “Empire Magazine has always set an extremely high standard in giving moviegoers an in-depth look behind the scenes of their favourite films. As a long time Empire reader, I am proud that they have chosen 'The Dark Knight Rises' to spearhead their launch in the U.S.”

Editorial will be tailored to the U.S. market, with a team to deliver localised content and pay attention to different release dates, as well as digital download and streaming reviews.

Rimi Atwal, publishing director at Bauer Media for Empire, said: “We are thrilled to be launching the Empire brand into the U.S. market and this bespoke iPad edition of the magazine will appeal to the reams of passionate, enthusiastic and influential film fans across the country. As an authoritative film brand Empire has long delivered an engaging and unrivalled experience for movie fans, and we are delighted to be bringing a U.S. movie magazine back to the home of movies.”
