Facebook has released a series of initiatives to help develop British business, including a free advertising credits programme that will roll out across Europe in the near future.

The scheme includes the launch of the credits scheme, which aims to help SMEs reach new customers through Facebook adverts, while a number of workshops have already begun to run through the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), with six to run across the UK highlight the benefits of social activity to businesses.

The workshop roadshow has already run in Glasgow and Birmingham and will also take place in Manchester, Sunderland, Sheffield and London.

Having worked alongside Enterprise Nation, a step-by-step guide has also been produced by Facebook and the BCC to highlight how the platform can best be utilised by businesses.

Simon Milner, Facebook’s UK and Ireland policy director, explained: “Many small businesses have thrived despite difficult economic conditions in recent years, thanks to savvy entrepreneurs spotting the opportunity to benefit from new technologies which bring people closer together. We want more businesses to prosper in this way, which is why we are rolling out this series of initiatives to give all businesses, whatever their digital experience to date, the confidence to use Facebook as an efficient and highly rewarding platform for growth.”
