YouTube to roll out Original Channel strategy to Europe
YouTube is to bring its Original Channels strategy, initially in the US last October, will come to UK France and German as it aims to broaden its entertainment offer.
Last year, YouTube expanded its number of channels to hundreds working with content producers and well-known personalities from TV, film, music, news and sports in expanding the hours of content produced for the channels which included sports, comedy, music and media.
A YouTube spokesperson told The Drum: "We are planning to roll out Original Channels, created specifically for today’s connected viewers, in Europe as part of our strategy to bring an even broader range of entertainment to YouTube. It's still very early in this process but stay tuned."
Yesterday, at a meeting with advertisers in New York, Robert Kyncl, global head of content for YouTube said that it would spend $200m to promote the channels of its advertisers.,a/>
