London based Billington Cartmell has announced that it is to “incubate” the tech start-up Slingshot by providing the enterprise a home within its dedicated innovation unit.

Slingshot was formed with the aim “to make boring shopping as easy and fun as possible” by enabling consumers to add products to online shopping baskets from branded content.

This software is compatible with brand videos, online videos and augmented reality to create ‘actionable routes to purchase’, streamlining the purchase process by simply tapping a ‘slingshot to basket’ log-in for particular retailers and products.

Retailers can harness this as a traffic driver to their own e-commerce platforms whilst brands can benefit from a more dynamic purchasing environment to lift sales.

Dan Machen, Head of Innovation at Billington Cartmell !nvent said: “Slingshot is exactly the sort of innovation that we want to help develop and to introduce to our clients. By using Slingshot, brands can offer transaction in a more engaging environment where consumers might not have traditionally been given the opportunity to buy immediately.

The Slingshot tool is incredibly simple, and allows consumers to go from inspiration to purchase in a matter of seconds with no need for an e-commerce infrastructure. This obviously has relevance to many of our key clients, particularly those involved in shopper marketing and retail.”
