Motorola Mobility are claiming victory in their long running legal tussle with Apple and Microsoft over alleged patent infringements – a decision which could see both the iPhone and Xbox 360 removed from sale in the US.

A judge at the US International Trade Commission found Microsoft guilty of infringing four patents related to wi-fi and video format standards whilst Apple fell foul of one wi-fi patent.

It is the latest twist in a series of patent wrangles to beset the industry following a bizarre case of Samsung citing Stanley Kubrick classic 2001: A Space Odyssey to argue that tablet computers had been designed in 1968.

All parties remain confident of ultimate victory however, paving the way for months of further legal wrangling.
