The Kaiser Chiefs have unveiled the cover art for their latest album, a half chewed stick of rock designed by deMontfort University student Sarah Graham.

Plumping for a bright pink stick of rock against a turquoise backdrop the image looks as though it’s a photograph, but is in fact a photo realistic oil painting.

Graham said: “The idea for a stick of rock, with the album's name running through it, came from the band's lead singer, Ricky Wilson.

"It was a great idea because a stick of seaside rock is the iconic British souvenir - and it was a great theme for me, because I love to paint colourful things like sweets.

"Once we'd agreed on the concept, and after an extensive photo-shoot in my studio -when we had to battle to stop the rock from melting under the lights - we came up with a shot that everyone liked.

"I then began the job of enhancing the image and bringing it to life in paint."
