The Sun on Sunday's first ABC circulation figures over double that of The Sunday Mirror

After its first full month, The Sun (Sunday) has gained an average circulation figure of 2,426,894, over double that of its nearer rival, The Sunday Mirror.

Launched by News International at the end of February, the new Sunday tabloid newspaper, which takes over from the closed News of the World, recorded a circulation figure of 3,213,613 in its first week, according to the latest ABC figures.

Following this, during its first full month, the newspaper’s circulation fell to an average 2,426,894, (a decrease of 24.48% on its launch figures) with The Sunday Mirror’s average at 1,106, 259 in comparison, a fall of 30.61% on the previous month.

Meanwhile, The Daily Star on Sunday saw a decline of 19.30% with 483,477 and The People fell to 463,936, a drop of 33.84%. The Sunday Mail was also impacted, with its circulation falling by 11.81% to 332,372.
