Archie Bland appointed as Independent deputy editor as Chris Blackhurst moves to group editorial director role
Chris Blackhurst, editor of the Independent, has been announced as group editorial director across The Independent and Evening Standard titles.
At the same time, Archie Bland is to be made a second deputy editor of The Independent, working in to Chris Blackhurst as editor and senior deputy editor Dan Gledhill.
Evgeny Lebedev, Chairman of Independent Print Limited, said: “These new appointments combine to leverage considerable journalistic talent and experience, with youth, flair and vitality. I expect this to significantly strengthen our journalistic output across both print and digital.”
