Orange is partnering with Sony Mobile Communications as part of its sponsorship of UEFA EURO 2012, with the pair to work together to provide online competitions, in-store promotions, and live events.

Yves Maitre, senior VP for mobile multimedia & devices at Orange, said: “By working with our partner Sony Mobile Communications, we are able to offer our customers and football fans across Europe even more opportunities to win tickets, courtesy of Orange and great prizes such as the Xperia S smartphone.

“At Orange, we aim to support our customers’ passion, and through partnerships like this we will bring EURO 2012tm to life for fans – helping them to share their EURO 2012tm experience with friends and family whether they are at home or at the tournament.”

Key elements in the campaign include the Orange Supporters’ Cup, which allows fans to compete individually and in teams for prizes including VIP bus trips to Warsaw and Kiev, and Xperia S smartphones; and Orange Golden Goal, which will run from May and allow fans to test their football knowledge in an Orange Facebook game for the chance to win VIP packages to the final of the tournament, Sony Playstation products and Sony Xperia smartphones.

Pieter Pierle, VP and director global account Orange at Sony Mobile Communications, said: “This partnership with Orange allows us to benefit from the combination of two powerful brands and gives us an opportunity to introduce our Xperia smartphones to Orange’s broad customer base, extending our reach to even more consumers. UEFA EURO 2012 is going to be a major event this summer and we will enhance the experience and enjoyment of both Orange and Sony Mobile customers by giving them the opportunity to get their hands on Xperia smartphones.”

This is Orange’s first pan-European sponsorship, covering Spain, Poland, France, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Romania, Austria, Luxembourg, Moldova, Switzerland and Armenia.
