With the new season of Mad Men getting into full swing Tweeters haven’t been slow to get in on the action with a satirical take on the 1960’s ad men.

Alongside discussion of the latest plot twists tweeters have taken to the character Betty, who has experienced notable weight gain as a subplot to the most recent episodes.

In the latest edition of the hit show the actress, who is pregnant in real life, was shown wolfing down on Bugles and ice cream whilst forlornly asking to be prescribed diet pills.

This led to @FatBettyFrancis trending on the micro blogging site, splitting the Twitter community between those who found it either humorous – or offensive.

Amongst ‘Betty’s’ choice tweets is: “Why does everyone keep talking about Twitter ‘spam’ and more importantly, where can I get some?”
