A bid has been launched by online advertising firm Conduit to transform the dead space around Android lock screens into prime advertising real estate.

Lockscreen Lockview will rebrand these screens to give the look and logos of particular companies, delivering real time information such as sports results and stock prices to owners.

Ori Lavie, VP of Conduit's mobile strategy, told the mail: “This is real prime real estate. The brand gets much higher exposure, which drives more traffic to their app or website.”

A test version of the app is currently available via Google’s Play marketplace.
