Premier PR has hired Gemma Went as its new director of social media.

Went has most recently been working as a marketing and social media consultant. Before that she held social media director roles at Hilda Smith and Aesop and ran her own agency, Red Cube Marketing.

During her 15-year career Went's clients have included Channel 4, The Guardian and Newcastle Brown Ale.

Her new brief is to "expand the use of social media across Premier as a whole", adding to the agency’s business development plans, bringing additional support to its specialist teams in campaign execution, and providing consultancy to Premier’s third party clients.

"After working with the Premier team for the past few months I was delighted when John asked me to join them," Went said.

"There’s a lot of opportunity in the entertainment industry for social right now and I’m excited to be part of it.”
