O2 has revealed a list of the people and places which puff people up with the greatest sense of pride in their home turf, with some interesting results.

Over 14,000 people responded to the call with an eclectic bunch of celebrities; including Bob Marley, Sachin Tendulkar, Dame Edna, Doctor Who, Karl Pilkington and Cheryl Cole, named as the people we hold dearest to our hearts.

They also show that female Britons are beguiled by Tower Bridge whilst men plumped for Three Shire’s Head, a picturesque trail.

The results were obtained by inviting O2’s national and international customers to nominate what they most liked about their country, before putting the suggestions to a public vote on Facebook.

The initiative was pushed by O2 in a bid to promote the “fantastic rates” the telecoms giant offers to those looking to keep in touch with friends and family in far off lands and spots closer to home.
