Sky Atlantic will tonight experience a Mad Men takeover as the lauded US series returns with the first two episodes airing tonight, only with a difference.

The long awaited return of the series, aired earlier this week in the US, will see the first two episodes of series five air, alongside adverts from the 60's and 70's too.

The Sky Atlantic logo will also appear in black & white during the takeover, which will take place between 7pm and 11pm.

Classics adverts from brands such as American Airlines, Fairy Liquid, Pringles, Volkswagen, Birdseye and Milkytray will be broadcast.

The first episodes will see black and whites adverts appear during the ad breaks, while the second will initially have black and white ads, before running colour ads from the 70's in a later break.

Naomi Gibney, acting channel director of Sky Atlantic, who thought up the takeover, explained to The Drum; "Mad Men is one of the most iconic programmes on TV at the moment and its really captured the attention of these great brands which were a part of that era."

The first episode of Mad Men series Five will air in the UK at 8pm on Sky Atlantic tonight.
