Britain’s biggest newspapers have celebrated a night of big wins at the Press Awards – an annual jamboree for hacks and publishers.

Big winners on the night were the Daily Telegraph, whose reporter Ruth Sherlock won the prestigious journalist of the year accolade.

Elsewhere the Mail scooped a raft of gongs, including best website on the back of the soaraway success of the papers online offer.
