Publishing and events group Emap is believed to have settled on Hawkpoint as corporate advisors in the sale of its £100m trade magazine business.

It is understood that offloading Emap Inform, the arm responsible for producing titles such as Nursing Times and Architects Journal, is now seen as the best way to grow the business following a period of declining sales.

Any sale would likely take place later this year although it is unclear who would be willing to purchase business-to-business magazines in the current climate.

Private Equity Group Apax and Guardian Media Group paid £1bn for Emap just four years ago but recent write-downs in have left analysts to value the business a t no more than £100m.
