America’s struggling newspaper industry has hit a fresh unwanted milestone after it was branded the country’s fastest shrinking industry by an official White House Report.

The Council of Economic Advisors, an agency which advises the President on economic trends, singled out the poor performance of the newspaper industry which has contracted by 28.4% over the past five years.

Not all is lost for journalists however, two of the fastest growing sectors were the internet and online publishing, indicating that there may be a few life rafts available for those fleeing the sinking ship.
