WPP has today announced the appointment of Chris Wade to the role of head of communications at WPP EMEA.

Wade, who will start his new role mid-May, will be based in London and will work closely with WPP CEO Sir Martin Sorrell and other directors, whilst holding responsibility for handling the company's media relations across all platforms in the EMEA region.

Sorrell said: “Media interest in our industry in general - and specifically in WPP - has risen sharply in recent years in the Central and Eastern European, Russian, African and Middle Eastern markets while demand for comment, contribution and engagement from the UK media is at an all-time high."

Wade joins from Guardian Media Group, where he has spent six years in corporate communications, most recently as group director of communications.
