The 100th anniversary of the ill-fated maiden voyage of the Titanic is being commemorated by a ‘live’ blog from crew members and travellers as its April 15 sinking approaches.

Organised by the History Press the account relays minute by minute updates from the captain crew and engineers as though it were March 12, 1912.

The Titanic didn’t actually set sail until April 10 so until then the accounts 4,000 followers are being regaled with facts and figures about the Titanic’s epic proportions and then state of the art features.

These include tweets from the engineering team praising the ships design: “Compared to the last century where things got a bit stagnated, shipbuilding nowadays is an industry in constant change.”

It coincides with publication of an iPad app incorporating background detail on the iconic ship, including photos, biographies and blueprints.
