Visual effects software developer The Foundry, which has worked on films such Avatar, The King's Speech, 127 Hours and Black Swan, is branching into the advertising sector with the launch of HIERO.

Having worked with film studios and post production houses such as Sony Pictures Imageworks, Walt Disney Studios, Weta Digital, The Moving Picture Company, Framestore and Digital Domain, The Foundry created its latest product to save time and money on every day visual effects projects in the advertising and commercial industries.

The product is described as a ‘pipeline in a box’ which tackles shot management, conform and review for VFX.

Hugo Guerra, joint head of NUKE compositing at The Mill, responsible for Johnnie Walker ‘Rock Giant’ and Audi A6 Avant ‘Hummingbird' ads, said: "In the NUKE department at The Mill HIERO seemed a natural choice to fill the pipeline gap that we were bridging using in-house scripting and third party software.

“Using HIERO and NUKEX together is the perfect solution for us. With these tools we save time and money on our pipeline, leaving the artists more time to be creative and not be delayed by the technical part of the process. This means our productions get better, faster and more collaborative.”
