The Union Group expands into app development with Technology Consult merger
The Union Group has expanded with the formation of Union Tech, following the merging of web, mobile and software development business Technology Consult.
The three-year-old business has joined with The Union Group’s other companies, The Union, Union Direct, Union Connect, Union Digital and Union Leeds, expanding the offering to include mobile and tablet applications.
The new business will work alongside Union Digital to offer clients an expanded offer of digital solution, with eight members of staff working within the new business.
As a result, The Union Group’s staff numbers have risen to 85, it has said.
Robin Mehta, founder of Technology Consult remains with the business.
Mehta commented; “I’ve been growing rapidly over the last two years, but saw the opportunity to join forces with one of Scotland’s most successful agencies as too good to miss. We’d already been working with the Union on some projects, but now I have the research, strategy and creative resource of The Union behind me and my team. We bring a lot of valuable expertise to The Union and the ability to work closely with both project teams and creatives will benefit all Union clients. Already this year our growth has been dramatic and I’m confident we’ll see good progression in 2012.”
Ian McAteer, group chairman of The Union Group, commented; “Traditonal above-the-line agencies have always struggled to offer the back-end technical services required for today’s digital world. This new venture with Robin gives us a significant edge and by integrating vertically we can now confidently offer our clients the full range of marketing solutions under one roof. We are fairly unique in the market in having this capability and I can already see this is going to be a success. Robin brings energy, enthusiasm and authority to the Union Group and it’s good to have him and his team on board.”
