The hotly anticipated successor to the Samsung Galaxy S II, seen by many as the best Android phone on the market, could hit stores as early as April – according to a report in ZDNet Korea.

The date is said to have been chosen to give plenty of time for joint marketing activitie swith the London Olympics 2012, for which Samsung is a major sponsor, providing international exposure for the launch.

Providing direct competition for Apple’s fabled iPhone 5 the device is believed to measure up with a 1.5Ghz quad core processor, 4.8inch 1080p resolution display and an 8-megapixel camera.

Samsung intends to debut their gadget at “a separate Samsung-hosted event in the first half of the year, closer to commercial availability of the product.”
