Children’s gaming brand Moshi Monsters has signed a record deal with Sony Music to produce a series of albums.

The children’s gaming website will debut with a 12 track album, Music Rox, featuring songs from popular characters such as Big Bad Bill and Sweettooth.

It is hoped that this can transform the characters, popular with children aged six to 12, into major music stars.

Moshi Music head Jason Perry told the Sunday Telegraph: “Moshi Monsters has never released an album before so this is a big opportunity. The thinking behind it is that we don’t want the company to just be a computer brand. We want to turn it into the number one children’s brand.”

The first CD will be available for sale at retail and on iTunes on April 2.
