British production company th1ng is opening a new production office and studio in New York.

It said it was opening in Manhattan after picking up a number of recent US projects.

At the same time its live action arm, th2ng, has expanded its line-up of directors by signing US feature film director Rob Cohen from MacGuffin Films.

Cohen's credits include Fast and Furious, XXX, The Mummy 3 and his next feature Alex Cross is due out later this year.

Th2ng has also added a ‘table top’ division to work on food and drink assignments. The division comprises a trio of US based directors: Kevan Bean, Nick Fuglestad and Michael Somoroff, who will now also be represented by th1ng in the UK, Europe and Middle East.

Dominic Buttimore, CEO of th1ng Corp., said: “Opening in New York greatly increases the skills and services available to our growing client base in the States. It also enables us to share our directorial talent, production and post-production facilities with the UK, while the signing of Rob Cohen and our table top trio represents a major coup for th2ng.”
