You probably haven’t heard of him and have no idea what he’s done to deserve such fame – but don’t worry. Gregg Jevin is nothing more than a figment of comedian Michael Legge’s imagination.

Created by Legge as an in-joke to followers the news soon took on a life of its own as others, jokingly and blindly, retweeted news of the late Jevin’s sad passing.

Despite being entirely fictitious Twitter users have taken the Jevin to heart with the Royal Albert Hall promising to stage a fake memorial concert, tickets for which won’t go on sale in the coming weeks.

Other, more mercantilist, fans have even be inspired to create an RIP Gregg Jevin tribute T-shirt.
