Robin Grant, managing director of global social media agency, We Are Social, has commented on the issue of Claire’s Accessories being accused of plagiarising Tatty Devine jewellery designs, then deleting Facebook comments from fans complaining.

Several of the fans who complained on Facebook also said that they have been banned by the Claire’s Accessories page since posting.

Grant said: “What Claire's Accessories appear to have done is unforgivable, and it's therefore no surprise that they're getting a hard time from the general public on Facebook and Twitter.

“Mainstream adoption of social media heralds an age of transparency, where brands should not expect to be able to behave badly and then sweep it under the carpet, as they might have done in times past.

“This lesson will have been painfully clear to Claire's management team when they awoke this morning, and we should hope that their board takes swift action to make this crystal clear to those responsible.”
