The Sun to sponsor ITV programmes on STV this weekend to promote launch
It has been announced that The Sun will sponsor ITV1 programmes airing on STV this weekend, as part of the promotion for the launch of the Sunday edition of The Sun.
The 10 and 20 second sponsorship idents will appear on the flagship channel on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday morning.
Rob Painter, The Sun marketing director, said: "We are delighted to work with our partners at STV to provide a really strong launch for the Sunday edition of the Scottish Sun and announce the Sun as a seven-day newspaper."
However, the Guardian has said that it is causing some controversy over the fact that several ITV shows – such as Take Me Out – already have sponsors.
