The brand director for general merchandise at Marks and Spencer, Alison Jones, has stepped down after less than a year in her role.

Appointed nine months ago, she has tasked with developing and leading the brand strategy of the company’s clothing and homeware divisions.

Marks and Spencer has today released a statement saying: “Ali Jones has decided to step down from her role as brand director to pursue new career opportunities outside of Marks & Spencer.

“We thank Alison for her contribution and wish her every success in her next role.”

It is understood that Rob Weston, brand director for food, will take over the role held by Jones on an interim basis.
