The Irish Daily Mirror has increased its readers by 22,000 (11.5%) year-on-year, according to Joint National Readership Survey figures, while the Irish Sunday Mirror added 42,000 readers.

Joanne McGreevy, general manager of Mirror Group Newspapers in Ireland, said: “These are impressive results in a market which has experienced a very difficult time over the last year. It is particularly encouraging to see that we have gained high numbers of younger readers.

“The performance of the Irish Sunday Mirror also stands out as the title that people have turned to after the closure of News of the World. All of this means that we now have a strong 7 day package on offer, the only tabloid group that can deliver this. We have also responded to advertisers needs by offering the market an integrated online and offline package. “
