62% of top brands have Google+ account, new research finds

Research by Simply Measured has found that 62 of the brands on the Interbrand Top 100 have created a Google+ account, with all but one of these – Honda - joining within the first month of the social media site’s launch.

It was discovered that at the three month milestone, 15% of the brands were posting over 3 times per week, up from 11% in the first month, with 36% of brands seeing over 100% increase in circle size.

Simply Measured found that H&M is a frontrunner in terms of brand posts and circler size, but only engaged with 2% of its circlers, compared with Ferrari which engaged with 92%.

The research firm said: “Brand and consumer interest in Google+ continues to grow. And while more time is needed to see what kind of market-share it is able to take away from the competition, there is no denying that brands need to start participating in, and experimenting with Google+.

“It can be particularly beneficial for those times when a highly engaged and responsive audience is needed. Furthermore, there is still a great opportunity to be a leader in the space, especially when learnings from the current leaders are applied.”
